Massage
Remedial massage will help to correct the problem by relaxing the tense muscles that can cause the pain (Swedish Remedial Massage) or using Deep Tissue Massage to get to the more 'knotted' trigger points that tend to be localised deep within muscle fibres.
Myofascial release is a gentle soft tissue therapy of light stretching and massage work which releases restrictions within the fascial network to allow tension in areas to become soft and pliable. It is a safe therapy and can be beneficial in treating bad posture tension, repetitive stress injuries.
Developed in the 19th Century by Swede Henrick Ling. It incorporates five different techniques which are used together to treat specific muscles. This particular type of massage is ideal for painful or damaged muscles related to overuse or injury. It will help to:
- Ease muscular aches, pain and strain
- Reduce tension and tone stretched muscles
- Improve flexibility in joints and muscles
- Accelerates recovery time from muscular strain
- Detoxify the body
- Relax and calm the body and mind & lift the spirit
The treatment is extremely effective in treating sore, aching muscles especially in the back, shoulder, legs, arms and hands. It works by the application of gentle as well as deep and stronger massage - this increases circulation and blood flow without increasing the heart load. The feeling of well being and the calming of the body all assist in the healing process.
Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage that concentrates on deeper muscle layers. It also affects the connective tissue known as fascia. Although similar to Swedish remedial massage the movements have more pressure and focus on releasing specific muscle tension and adhesions. It helps with muscle injuries as well as chronic problems.
Trigger points are highly irritable within muscle fibres. These areas can vary from the size of a pea to a large lump. They can be tender to the touch & will cause referred pain & discomfort. Massage will de-activate and reduce trigger points, this can sometimes be slightly painful but the relief gained over the long term is beneficial. Massage techniques, stretches and lifestyle changes all help to prevent these problems. Conditions that can benefit from massage:
- Whiplash injury or sports injury
- Osteoarthritis
- Postural problems
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Golfers/Tennis Elbow
- Scar Tissue
- Frozen Shoulder
- Chronic pain/limited mobility
- Muscle spasm
As a teacher standing all day I was badly in need of a back massage. Sandra worked on my shoulders and eased the knots away which was such a relief. I am now ready to take on year 3! Thank you so much.

I am a builder & have aches & pains in my shoulders & back. I had some deep tissue work with some stretching & the stiffness in my muscles eased considerably.
